Technical Terms
CONTAINER
Any standard ISO container 20’, 40’ or 45’ in length, 8’ in width and 8’6”/9’6” in height including e.g. flat-racks ( top and sides open), platforms, reefers and tanks, which can be handled by means of a spreader and which are consistent with the safety requirements of CSC plates (Convention for Safe Containers, 1972, as amended).
NON-STANDARD CONTAINERS
Any standard container which lost its standardisation due to any reason and which cannot be handled by means of normal use of a spreader, even with special attachments.
OUT OF GAUGE CARGO / OOG
Any container which must be handled with the use of special attachment to the spreader due to nature and/or dimensions of the cargo contained within.
GENERAL CARGO
Any cargo carried on board of a container vessel without being containerised which cannot be handled with spreader due to its nature and/or size.
CONTAINER STORAGE AREA
The storage yard where the containers in any size and type either in full or empty are stocked.
CONTAINER FREIGHT STATION (CFS)
The area where the cargo within the container is stripped, stuffed, inspected or subjected to other operations requested by interested parties or applicable rules or governmental authorities.
CONTAINER TERMINAL
The land and the premises used by KUMPORT in the port of Ambarlı.
WAREHOUSE
The structure which is completely closed from top and all sides in order to protect the cargo from environment and weather conditions.
HAZARDOUS CARGO
Articles of any kind classified by the International Maritime Organisation under International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG) as hazardous
EQUIPMENT
All kinds of gear used in handling and transportation of cargo and containers in the Port.
DAY
A calendar day (fractions of a day are deemed as a whole day).
FREE TIME
Specified period of time during which no storage charge shall be received.
GROSS TONNAGE /GRT
The gross tonnage of a vessel measured in accordance with the method set out in International Convention of Tonnage Measurement of Ships as amended from time to time.
LASHING / UNLASHING of the CARGO
The service of lashing or unlashing of the goods discharged or loaded on the vessel by using proper material .
STORAGE
(Import-Export-Reefer-Transit- IMCO – Empty – OOG – Yatch)
Seltering service of the containers located on places which are under the control and the supervision of the terminal operator.
Commencement-Completion Date of Storage:
Import; commences from the date of berthing of vessel till stripping of the containers, loaded on truck or vessel for gate out.
Export; commences from the date of gate in of container on truck or stuffing of empty container in the terminal till depart with vessel.
Storage depends on the type and size of the container, where also IMCO and OOG status of cargo .
A twice price of normal tariff applies for each day for the road vehicles which do not leave the terminal although the operation for such completed by the terminal or idle occupation of the ones in the terminal.
DISCHARGE SERVICE
(Full, empty, hazardous cargo)
The service of lifting the container from on board of the vessel by a crane and be piled to the appropriate stacking area.
LOADING SERVICE
(Full, empty, hazardous cargo)
The service of taking the container from the stack area and loading it by a crane on board of the vessel.
SHIFTING Cell Pier Cell
(Full, empty)
It is the service of discharging the container on board of the vessel to pier and reloading them on board of the same vessel to a different location due to the various reasons (relocation, wrong loading…etc.).
SHIFTING Cell to Cell
(Full, empty)
It is the service of transferring the container from one hold to another or from one bay to another on board of the same vessel without discharging it.
LOADING DISCHARGE SERVICE
Services, rendered for the cargo taken from the piers, terminal and from the land or the marine vessel, be carried, loaded on board of the vessel or the lash lighter, and be stacked at the hold and on board of the vessel or the lash lighter or the corresponding services, rendered for bulk, solid and liquid goods by mechanical vehicles and facilities (Pneumatic, conveyor, pipe line) belonging to the establishment or in case a permit is being given, to the cargo owner.
STRIPPING OF THE CONTAINER
(with IMCO – without IMCO)
A terminal service of manipulating the container from the storage area to the CFS (Container freight station) and discharging the cargo inside of it by a worker or a forklift and be loaded to a vehicle.
STUFFING OF THE CONTAINER
(with IMCO – without IMCO)
A terminal service of manipulating the empty or partial loaded container from the storage area to the CFS and loading the cargo inside of it by a worker or a forklift from a vehicle.
FULL INSPECTION OF THE CONTAINER
(with IMCO – without IMCO)
Due to the request of the customs authority for controlling and counting purposes, the service of manipulation of the full container to CFS in order to strip and stuff all the cargo inside of it,
Note: In case the cargo within the container are to be totally stripped and stuffed again, the stripping-stuffing tariff is being applied.
INSPECTION / SAMPLING OF THE CONTAINER
Due to the request of the customs authority, the service of opening the container on its location for controlling or taking sample from the cargo inside of it.
WEIGHING OF THE CONTAINER
The service of weighing the container, by manipulating it from storage area to weighbridge by a terminal truck (excluding the manipulating service) or directly weighing the container while on the truck.
TRANSFER WITHIN THE TERMINAL
The terminal service occurred in case of an abandonment of stripping, full inspection or weighing request after the container being manipulated to CFS or weighbridge.
TRANSFER WITHIN THE TERMINAL (to warehouse)
The service of manipulating the container from the storage area to warehouse for partial operation, full inspection or desertion of separated cargo.
Terminal – handling without sling of OOG
The service of loading the container or the cargo inside the container on to the vehicle by a reach stacker.
Terminal – handling with sling of OOG
The service of loading the container or the OOG cargo inside the container by using sling attached to yard equipment on to the vehicle.
Terminal – Yacht –boat
The service of taking the yacht or the boat to the sea or loading to a vehicle in case to be gated out from land side.
COVERING THE CONTAINER WITH PAPER
The service of covering the inside of the container by paper at CFS for stuffing.
SWEEPING THE CONTAINER
The process of sweeping the inside of the container to be stuffed for export.
WASHING THE CONTAINER
Comprising the service of manipulating the container upon request to the washing station and then be washed and dried.
CARGO LASHING / UNLASHING
It is a process of lashing the cargo to the container in order to secure it or unlashing for stripping it from the container.
COVERING THE CONTAINER WITH TARPAULIN
The service of covering the open top container with the tarpaulin.
